Established in 1992, The Universal Educational Institute of Canada is an educational organization dedicated to helping all people in the Edmonton and surrounding community, regardless of background, affiliation, or personal level of observance, to increase their level of Jewish knowledge, enthusiasm, and commitment.

We offer both adult and youth outreach programming that allows participants to explore the complex areas of Jewish religion, tradition, and practice in an open-minded and non-judgmental atmosphere.

All of the classes, programs and services are designed to heighten the awareness and lend valuable insight into one's heritage, traditions, religious practice, laws and rituals. Each individual is invited to participate, study and learn. Each individual makes his or her own respective religious lifestyle decisions at his or her own pace. We welcome and invite participation from all members of the community not just those of the Jewish faith.

The Jewish population in Edmonton and the surrounding communities has grown substantially over the last few years and there is a definite community need for this type of programming, learning opportunities, social gatherings and outreach.

Raffle Rules and Regulations

1. Anyone eighteen years of age or older may purchase tickets and/or be a recipient of the prize, except an individual directly in the employment or on the Board of the Universal Educational Institute of Canada or The Canadian Digestive Health Foundation, who may not purchase a ticket or be eligible to win the prize. Raffle ticket sellers will advise adult ticket buyers not to write the name of a person under the age of eighteen years of age on the ticket. If, however, the winning ticket should bear the name of a minor, the Public Trustee would intervene on behalf of the minor, and Alberta Gaming Regulations governing such matters would apply.

2. If a minimum of $450,000.00 in ticket sales is not achieved by 90 days prior to the scheduled final draw date, a decision may be made to apply to the Gaming Commission for an extension of the final draw date, or cancellation of the raffle.

3. Unless the raffle is cancelled, all ticket purchases shall be considered final sales, and no refunds shall be offered.

4. If all tickets are sold prior to the scheduled draw date, the Universal Educational Institute of Canada may choose to apply for AGLC approval to hold the draw on an earlier date.

5. There will be no "cash in lieu of option". Prize must be accepted as presented. The winner will be responsible for

any costs associated with delivering the prize to their chosen destination.

6. There will be one ticket drawn ONLY. The person named on the ticket stub drawn shall be deemed the winner of the corresponding prize. Prior to presentation of the prize, that winner will be asked to show identification, such as a driver's license, to ensure the prize is given only to the person named on the winning ticket stub.

7. The draw will be held at West Edmonton Mall, 170 Street & 87 Avenue, Edmonton, AB, on January 9, 2022 at 5:00 pm in Phase Ill of the mall near the fountain. The location of the draw will be between The Deep Sea Adventure and Bourbon Street in the common area. All ticket stubs will specify that anyone wishing to attend the draw should call the phone number indicated, prior to the draw date, to confirm the exact location and time. An authorized representative of the Universal Educational Institute of Canada will make the draw, or alternatively, an individual who has not purchased a ticket on the raffle, may be selected at random, not in advance, from the general public on hand at the time of the draw. The raffle chairperson shall ensure that the draw is conducted in strict accordance with AGLC regulations. Once the ticket has been pulled from the drum, the name written thereon will be read aloud. All information from the winning ticket will then be duly recorded by the Universal Educational Institute of Canada, and provided to the AGLC at the earliest opportunity.

8. The winner(s) shall have one year from the date of the draw to claim their prize. The Universal Educational Institute of Canada shall make every effort to locate the winner(s) by telephone, double registered mail and/or public notices. If a prize remains unclaimed after one year, the Universal Educational Institute of Canada will apply to the AGLC for permission to have the prize or monies equivalent to the fair market value of the prize, donated to an approved charitable beneficiary or the licensees own approved use of profits.

9. The vehicle is not brand new and shall include mileage as shown on the odometer at the time prior to commencing the raffle, plus minimal additional mileage only as required to move the vehicle from one display location to another, during the course of the raffle.

10. While every effort has been made to ensure that the vehicle is in excellent condition, including a mechanical inspection, no warranties or guarantees are expressed or implied, and the winner must accept the prize "as is".

11. In the event a winning ticket stub has more than one name on it the Universal Educational Institute of Canada shall award the prize to only one of the individuals identified on the ticket. The Universal Educational Institute of Canada and the AGLC are not responsible for any disputes which may arise between the different individuals whose names appear on the ticket stub.
